Cameo Island

A small yet beautiful island with its own interesting history. Located in the Agios Sostis area and easily reachable on foot.

8 minutes walking via the beach from Laganas or by vehicle following the signs for Agios Sostis (about 3km from Laganas).

This hidden treasure was once part of Zakynthos until 1633 when there was an earthquake which separated this small area from the mainland and became autonomous.

It is connected to the mainland by a short wooden bridge which has been said to make it look like the Caribbean.

The trees on the island, the bridge and small church form a very idyllic scenery. The Island is named after the small church that has been there for 16 centuries.

There is a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters that are perfect for Snorkelling and not to be missed. It is also one of the best in Europe for swimming with Sea Turtles.

If you want to relax with a refreshing drink the island has a bar – Cameo Beach Club.

It is a small but popular bar and you will recognise it from the rope with white cloth hanging down above the beach.

Recently it has gained a reputation as a great wedding spot and weddings are organised on the beach.

Located in the Agios Sostis area and easily reachable on foot.
