An important archaeological site dedicated to the Virgin Mary on Greek Island of Rhodes.
The monastery has ancient icons and within the site is the remains of the Temple of Athena Polias. From the square there is a walk which takes you to the west of the hill where the huge cross overlooks the Aegean Sea. The Via Dolorosa or Way of the Cross has bronze reliefs showing the Passion of Christ.
Panoramic views over Ialyssos Bay, the sea and Rhodes airport make a trip to this beautiful cross well worth while. You can get refreshments and buy a memoir from the gift shop.
Keep an eye out for the beautiful peacocks which roam freely around Filerimos.
Filerimos is situated 1.4 kilometres above the village of Ialyssos, just over 11 kilometres from Rhodes Aiport and 12 kilometres from the centre of Rhodes Town.
